Visiting for the first time the Stroganina Bar located in the very centre of Moscow you may face a problem... a problem of choice! In this case, it is recommended to order a plate of exotic toasts to get familiar with the wide variety of tastes in the quickest way. What is muksun and nelma? What is 'pant'ee', and why liquor made on it is so good for health? What is the right way to freeze fish and meat and how to slice it? With the help of the chef Alexander Kuleshov the Stroganina Show will reveal these secrets. The guests will learn about, see and surely try 'stroganina' - slices of frozen muksun (white fish) and nelma (Siberian white salmon) and savour it with "On Pant'ee" liquor or with "Taiga's Bitters".
'Indigirka' is the star of the second act of the show (NB: The Indigirka is a river in the Far East) - a classical frozen fish salad with onions, salt and pepper. It is co-starred with superb vodka. The Indigirka story is played in several acts - wholeheartedly and with full dedication. The climax of the show is cold venison slices accompanied with country samogon (homebrew).
The "right Russian sushi" can be tasted exclusively in two places in Moscow - The Stroganina Bar and The Expedition Restaurant (two projects of one team). It is here where the basic concept of the traditional Northern dish - stroganina - is strictly observed. The fishing is done in the wild at - 40C. That's when stroganina making can be totally successful - the fish gets frozen only once on the ice of an arctic river, and it melts only once thereafter - in your mouth after a shot of hard liquor. Apart from stroganina, the guests are offered hot dishes made from venison, veal, lamb and poultry as well as arctic river fishes and Far East sea products.
Out of the desserts the most popular is frozen cowberry with pinenuts, caramelized milk or honey. By the way, pinenut marshmellow, cranberry marmalade, dried and salted fish, caviar, various jellies and jams can be tasted and purchased right in the bar - it has own Northern foods delicatessen.
As for the drinks, this is a real kingdom of in-house produced liqueurs and their mixes. The latter are based on various northern berries, pinenuts and even reindeer antlers (pant'ee). The beer is surely available. The guests can also have a unique opportunity to try 'The Siberian Character' mix made on homebrewed vodka and anlters liquor, Siberian coffee - with pinenut liquor or a cup of hot chocolate with antlers liquor and cream.
The menu is unique but still affordable. The capacity of the bar is up to 60. So, the companies of friends or colleagues are very welcome. The musical background is composed of famous Russian and foreign movies and cartoons soundtracks. A special entertainment is a Battleship game table with little model ships with shots of in-house liquors in them. The players order liquor and go on with the game having liquors from the sunk ships.
A Russian alternative to a sushi-bar, the Stroganina Bar is a place for successful romantics.
