Pioneer Cinema is one of the most beloved places for Moscow's cinematic arts aficionados. The name is borrowed from a Soviet communist youth organization but in reality its popularity comes mainly from the fact that this is one of very few places in the city where movie-goers can find non-commercial and independent films in their original languages with Russian subtitles!

This movie theater existed in the Soviet times, but it has been renovated to provide customers with all the comfort they need to enjoy the latest in world cinema: air-conditioning, well-equipped halls, the most modern sound systems and friendly staff. There is also a very cozy café, Pion, designed by Wowhaus, which serves elegant dishes and fine wines.

Viewers can always find some kind of event on at Pioneer, starting with weeks dedicated to the cinema of Japan, England or Denmark and finishing with manga festivals or retrospectives of particular directors. The Omnibus Magic Bookroom is a pleasant little shop located on the second floor, which sells disks, books, postcards and other gifts.
