Botanichesky Sad
Moscow
Botanichesky Sad is a park which is in the north of Moscow, near metro stations Vladykino and VDNH. From VDNH you need to take trolley buses 36 or 73 which go to bus stations 'Glavnyi botanichesky sad' near the park entrance.
The main botanic garden is a real museum of nature. The garden has a very rich collection of plants which include more than 8000 types. It was founded by professor Tzitzin and is a botanical centre of Russian Academy of Science, so there is a professional approach to plant growing, collection preparing and flowers exhibitions. If you are really fond of flora, it's the best place to go to because you may see exotic and rare collections made for many years by true experts.
Apart from abundance of exclusive vegetation there is also Sheremetyevsky (Ostankinsky) Palace of the XVIIIth century. Beautiful architecture together with the park design and botanical selections are very impressive.
The park is open daily from 10.00 to 18.00 except Monday and Thursday. The greenhouse is closed at the weekend. Guided tours should be arranged in advance.
