Description

After meeting your private guide in the lobby of your hotel, it will be time to begin a marvelous journey around one of the most beautiful cities in the world. You can begin by indulging yourself in the magical atmosphere of sparkling lights, Christmas carols and tempting aromas of hot chocolate and mulled wine on Red Square. Your charming guide will reveal to you all of the secrets of the iconic St. Basil's cathedral, full of symbolic meanings and mysteries. You can then rush into the GUM shopping center to get warm and amble along its fancy stores while drinking hot mulled wine and admiring its astonishingly ornate interior. After this, head to the ancient residences of the Russian Tsars and the Kremlin, including its palaces and cathedrals. The Kremlin has both mystique and a vibrant energy, after having stood witness to over 900 years of glorious Russian history. This is your opportunity to enjoy a 2-hour visit to this epic medieval fortress, where you can gain insight into Russian heritage and culture, and grab picturesque photo opportunities at this UNESCO World Heritage site. After having lunch in a traditional Russian bistro, you can dive into the most beautiful and extravagant underground in the world, decorated with hundreds of frescoes, sculptures, chandeliers, stained glass and jaw-dropping mosaics. You will travel to the most beautiful stations on the metro map, and as you arrive at each destination, your guide will give you details about the provenance of the artworks and architecture on display. You will learn about the most significant events in Soviet history, while mingling with Muscovites and getting a feel for the city whilst learning how to move around it with ease. After warming yourself in Moscow's subway, you will return to the sunlight where you will become struck by the beauty of the Izmailovo Market. Your local guide will help you to make the best deals, buying 'matreshkas', fur hats, amber jewellery and other Russian souvenirs for your friends and family. Don’t miss an opportunity to try a traditional hot winter drink called 'Sbiten', as well as some traditional meat or salmon BBQ. Once you are done with the Christmas shopping, your lovely guide will bring you back to your hotel.
