  • March across famous Red Square
  • Marvel at the record-breaking size of the Kremlin's rooms
  • See where Russian tsars and emperors were crowned
  • See masterpieces by various Russian artists at The State Tretyakov Art Gallery
  • Sail by the working residence of the president, St. Basil’s Cathedral, Stalin’s skyscrapers, and many other sights

Description

The walking tour will introduce you to sights such as Red Square, GUM, St. Basil’s Cathedral, Lenin’s tomb, Alexander garden with its Grave of the Unknown Soldier, and the Bolshoi Theatre. Atop the roof of a huge toy shop, you can ask your guide about tsars and communist dictators who shaped the city. After lunch, you'll discover the Kremlin Museum. The Kremlin itself is a feudal-style fortress surrounded by defense walls, moats, and loophole towers with secret passages and hidden drinking water wells. There are also venues for ballets and concerts, cathedrals, and a massive Tsar Canon and Tsar bell. Check out the Kremlin's park, and don't forget Russian President's helipad. Day 2: The Tretyakov Gallery is one of the largest art galleries in Russia and famous for mostly classical Russian art. Paul Tretyakov left his collection to the city when there was no more room for the paintings in his home. You’ll see masterpieces by Vasnetsov, Repin, Ivanov, Serov, and Brulov, along with pre-Mongolian icons and the world famous “Trinity” by A.Rublev. Followed by a fabulous 2 1/2 hour boat trip which shows the development of Moscow through the millenia.
