The creators of “Noah’s Ark” (Noev Kovcheg) restaurant have turned this place not only into an island of hospitality and homeliness in the heart of Moscow, but a castle of Armenian culture’s key values. “Noah’s Ark” was founded on 17 of July, the date when the Ark of Noah’s forefather reached the top of Mount Ararat. Over 20 years this legendary restaurant has been one of the most prestigious and popular venues in Moscow.
The interior is in full harmony with Armenian traditions: massive costly furniture, hand-painted stoneware, luxurious chandeliers, soft cozy textile and ambient light. “Vinograd” (Grapes), a separate hall with its own entrance and welcome zone, can accommodate up to 120 persons. It is provided with a scene, VIP-zones with soft lounges and professional technical equipment. The gilded ceiling, stained-glass with a big blue star and marble floor – all shines and sparkles as a bunch of grapes in a sunbeam. The hall “Gopher” is named after the legendary Gopher Wood, which Noah used to make the Ark. Its interior is presented in light tones with crystal balls beneath the wooden carved ceiling and soft armchairs – thrones, which create festive atmosphere. The hall is decorated with a big bronze lion’s head and modern green bras along mirror walls. The hall “Svod” (Ark) has its own entrance and accommodates up to 20 persons. It is an original room of 18th century renovated in the style of mediaeval white-stone Moscow with high brick arches and bas-relief walls.
The main hall is equipped with an embossed charcoal grill faced with stone, used to make most meals from the menu. The guests witness the main culinary show – preparation of meat and fish, vegetables and, of course, meat shashlik, which is rightfully considered the best in Moscow. The food products are delivered here directly from Armenian or Russian farms. True home-made cheeses, fresh meat and fish, organic vegetables and herbs – all this makes dishes delicious and flavorful. The cooks keep up the tradition of careful food treatment to preserve benefits and to emphasize unique taste of each meal.
“Noah’s Ark” serves dishes, which combine ancient traditional recipes, organic food from piedmont lands and methods of its processing. The Chef has created a unique menu of classic delights from Ararat valley and modern hits of Southern cuisine. The favorite Tolma in vine leaves turns into stuffed vegetables with tender veal, rice and spices in summer. Every meal of the restaurant has its history and legend. For example, the name “Kare-kyufta” comes from “kar” or “khar”, which means “stone” in Armenian. Stone was used to beat veal or beef to reach tenderness of meat. “Noah’s Ark” revived that meat pudding flavoring it with juicy tomatoes and aromatic basil. The guests are offered plenty of classic meals performed by Chef Arzhan, such as hummus, havyar, aubergine paste, qutabs, lobbio and meat, as well as exclusive dishes, such as Ishkhan – trout from Sevan Lake in Armenia.
Famous musicians are invited to “Noah’s Ark” to make its events truly unforgettable. One can’t find a more comfortable and quite place in the center of Moscow, than the summer terrace of “Noah’s Ark”, situated in the shade of trees close to Ivanovsky Convent.

Noev Kovcheg is a nice place where foreign guests can feel themselves at home. Here you always get a grateful welcome, tasty food, and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant is famous for its authentic Armenian dishes cooked with love and care as well as its disposition at XVIII century building in the heart of Russian capital. It is also the place where artworks of Armenian artist and sculptor Anatoly Avityan are exhibited.
