Gert will be performing a four-hand culinary duet with Andrey Shmakov, dinner will be served at 7:30 pm on September 15th, 2016.
Gert De Mangeleer is the master of fine dining and exquisite taste. Each dish is a masterpiece - you dare not touch it but at the same time are unable to resist the temptation of having it. The chef will offer his guests a seven course culinary experience with wine pairing. While Gert is one of the best chefs in the world at cooking vegetables, he also excels in root crop dishes toying with textures, colour and flavours. For the SAVVA dinner, Gert and Andrey will create a very special menu, one to amaze guests with a truly original combination of flavours.
Gert De Mangeleer was awarded his first Michelin star at the age of 28, ten years ago. At the age of 33 he already held three Michelin stars and 19 Gault Millau points. His restaurant Hertog Jan has kept a stable position in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. With all these achievements in his pocket, Gert suddenly decided to close his restaurant. He only did so to change the venue: six months later, he opened a new restaurant on a farm in the suburbs of Bruges amid fields and vegetable gardens where he grew vegetables, root crops, fruit, berries and herbs. It took Gert no longer than just a few months to get back his well-deserved three Michelin stars.
